Clear article by Stiglitz in the NYT of January 19, 2013. Accelerating inequality in the US is hindering economic recovery and will thwart it further. The present political groups will almost certainly not display the courage and foresight Stiglitz calls for at the end of his article. Permanent campaigning and paying the debts accumulated during those campaigns to interests that are more and more detached from the people’s real needs make it unlikely. Courage and foresight will have to come from elsewhere.
