Strike in Egypt

This morning [NYT article](http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/10/world/middleeast/10egypt.html?_r=1&hp) reports that strikes and demonstrations are developing in many cities in Egypt, including in the South. The tottering authorities take refuge in their “constitution” and possible accommodations, saying it is either that (accommodations) or a “coup,” while threatening more repression. Even [the online edition of Al Ahram](http://english.ahram.org.eg/), for a broader readership than Arabic-reading public, is not towing the authorities’ line and for instance has an article title saying [Egypt revolution youth form national coalition](http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/64/5257/Egypt/Politics-/Egypt-revolution-youth-form-national-coalition.aspx), and another header starting with
>The choices facing Egypt are not between dialogue and coup d’état, as the vice president said yesterday, but between a rickety authoritarianism and full vibrant democracy.
